Meet Dr. Parsons
Dr.
Erin Parsons grew up in a small town called
Rocklin, just outside of Sacramento,
and attended the
University of California, Santa Cruz where she
received her Bachelor's in Biology and a minor in
Chemistry. A year after graduating she moved to
Orange County to attend Los Angeles College of
Chiropractic (currently called
Southern California
University of Health Sciences since they added
an additional School of Acupuncture and Chinese
Medicine). She did her internship in Fullerton, CA
at the Complete Wellness Center and then worked as
an Associate in San Clemente, CA at Seaside
Chiropractic. During her final year of
school/internship, she completed the Fellowship
Program through the
International
Chiropractic Pediatric Association where she
received two Certifications. One is to treat
pregnant women, babies, and children, and the other
is for the Webster Technique. (See
the ICPA website link above for more information).
Dr. Erin is the only Certified Chiropractor to treat
children and pregnant women in the San Luis Obispo
area through the ICPA.
While
working in Orange County, Dr. Erin met her husband,
Greg, and they both decided to move up to the Central
Coast and leave the busy-ness of Southern California
behind them. Greg is a Cal Poly alumni and they both
felt like San Luis Obispo was the place for them to put
down their roots. Dr. Erin took over San Luis Obispo
Chiropractic Center in June of 2006 and has been happily
healing the Central Coast ever since. Her husband is an
elementary school teacher. They were married on October
20, 2007 in Avila Beach and were blessed with their
first child, Benjamin, in 2010 and their daughter,
Taylor, in 2013.
While pregnant, and then with a newborn, Dr. Erin
decided to get the more current Pediatric Certification,
which included taking 80 additional hours of training,
an extensive test, and participation in a Practiced
Based Research Network (PBRN) study to continue the
ongoing research in Chiropractic, Pregnancy, and
Pediatrics. This certification was obtained through the
Academy of Family Practice and the International
Chiropractic Pediatric Association.
Dr. Erin's philosophy of Chiropractic comes from an
evidence-based school of thought. This means that she
believes, and has seen, research to support Chiropractic
adjustments. Research shows evidence that manipulation
of the spinal bones frees the nervous system so that it
can be in full function to support and maintain the rest
of the body. Stimulation of the spinal nerves then helps
to relieve pain, stress, tight muscles, organic
conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, asthma, and
infertility, just to name a few. After you are relieved
from your symptoms, and your spine has begun to hold its
adjustments regularly, Dr. Erin recommends regular care
of the spine, which includes monthly (or every other
month) adjustments to keep the spine in alignment,
decrease nerve impingement, and prevent arthritis.
